I've just got an HTC Wildfire on a £7.50 a month contract with Tesco Mobile.
250 minutes of calls, 3000 texts, 500Mb data.

Too many variables.

Which version of Android?

Which manufacturer?

Contract or PAYG?

Cheapest of the cheap or cheapest of the top end of the spectrum?

By using u-switch I ended up with a free Samsung Galaxy s3 when I swapped from a £21.50 per month contract with O2 to a £21.50 per month contract with O2 via a third party.

It has made my HTC Desire HD redundant at a stroke.

Look on eBay for HTC Legends.. The GPS is spot on, they're built to withstand nuclear holocausts (I've dropped mine 3 times and rammed it into a set of drawers.. The alu case bent but it's still working!) but they're not made any more..

You could probably get a samsung galaxy y for that. I have one, I'm with EE now but was with o2 when I got it so no problem switching. Mine was bought as a payg but now I have a £7 month contract and get however many texts and minutes, I can't remember, but they're enough.
There are cheaper phones out there, but it doesn't mean they're worth buying.
