I was passed (unstatement of the year) more like 'blown off the road' by a roadie in full gear, down on the tri bars this morning. I was impressed and thought WOW, until I saw the nobhead hastily looking behind for me and then whizz through 2 sets of red lights. Surely not because he was trembling at the thought of me catching up????

If anyone passes me at the start of a ride I say "alright", if its at the end I ignore them, as they are probably only going round the block but pretending they are doing the Tour De France, grim faced and miserable no time for anyone.

Sod that. Give them a courteous *parp* as you pull in front of them. Just by way of thanks...

was it thomas or cav that tweeted during the TDF about having a bad stomach and really letting one go practically in the face of another rider.

he might not have known the road as well as you do , so just take it in your stride and next time he does it just go bowling around his outside on the bend and then blow him into the weeds on the straight bit

I blew past a couple of other roadies on a long climb a while back as they huffed and puffed up the climb. They had the last laugh though as I over cooked a corner and spanked out on a 90 degree bend on the descent breaking my arm. They wheeled past me as I was standing by the side of the road bleeding about 10 minutes later The big chap said to me "I knew we'd get you on the descent". I'm hoping he hadn't noticed the steady flow of blood dripping from my arm (because if he had that would have been insensitive).

As a speed freak (as in riding) I can but humbly apologise for our primal urge to hunt down and over take other cyclists that appear on the horizon (its great fun though). Him slowing down for that sweeping bend seems a bit naff though (get her) then again I bet his ride didn't end in a trip to A+E.
