What's the law on helmets in Spain?

Some take a helmet on the rack but with no intention of wearing one, that sounds sensible, but I couldn't be bothered and don't own a helmet anyway. When I toured Catalonia, I put a piece of velcro strap around my rack, the cunning plan was...... that if I was stopped I could say that my helmet had been nicked whilst I was in the supermarket...........

The chances of being stopped never mind fined are infinitesimal, you can ride all day without seeing a policeman, then you'd have to bump into a particularly bored, pernickety and grumpy one to come a cropper. If you are a worrier, just strap a helmet to your rack.

Not so, Roadrider has made it perfectly clear that he has no desire to argue about this, or to cause trouble. He just cannot see why anyone would disagree and appears to have no interest in any alternative point of view.
That's a relief. Living in a country where helmets are compulsory and the law is heavily enforced, I was thinking I may get the urge to give an alternative point of view.

Can someone please inform me how exactly I am causing trouble. I am open to all points of view. I was simply giving my opinion....that's all. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. Honestly!

Tbh, your opening post did not sound like a man who was open to all points of view. ^_^ Didn't you open the link that Rich kindly provided for you? There are more points of view in there than you can shake a stick at, have a look.

I used to go to the Costa Blanca every Spring and we were always told that the law was that helmets had to be worn outside urban areas. (That seemed daft to me because I reckon that you are more likely to have an accident where there is more traffic!)

Anyway, many of riders didn't bother with helmets and got away with it. Until one day, one year, they didn't! A group got stopped and everyone without a helmet got an on the spot fine. The speculation afterwards was that the money might not have made its way to where it should have, and might just have been a nice little earner for the Guardia Civil ...

Required on interurban routes except when going uphill or in very hot weather, or for professional cyclists.
Stupid law if you ask me.
Also you cant go on duel carriage ways, unless it says you can.
