I'm sorting out my tools and have come across this. I've no idea where it came from. Any ideas what it's used for?

I have one in my tool box at work, been told its a brick hammer from my work colleages, I get laughed at when using it, as we don't lay bricks and Ive never worked in the brick industry, found mine in the shed from when I bought the house

Loch side.
It is a chipping hammer. It is used for roughening up smooth rendered surfaces for re-pastering. It is also used to rough up porcelain tiles so you can lay times over them again. The comb side is used for the chipping and the hard blade is replaceable and a standard over the counter item. The flat side is used for general hammering or demolition but is mostly there to balance the hammer and add weight. Your flat side is damaged.
