Am I guilty of 'clickbait?' I don't think so, but could be 'guilty' as I have a hunch........ Is it a locating tab, and part of the seat-post sleeve?
The attached is a photo using a cheap endoscope I bought recently, so maybe of interest to others here. I intend to start poking it into the chainstays ot my other bikes, just to see what it reveals.
The Brompton is a 2007 superlight, which wasn't used, and was kept indoors until a couple of years ago when it became mine. I keep the spare inner tube inside a ripstop nylon sleeve within the main frame tube, so I was concerned about rust. It all looks good through the endoscope, and using a torch the bare metal looks good. Instead of using waxoyl or similar, I decided to paint inside the main tube, using some grey primer thinned with white spirit - I poured about 20ml inside and shook it/ moved it in all directions and left it to dry with any excess dripping out onto a 'catch cloth'. That should stop any rust, but if it does occur I'll be able to see it against the grey (my reason for not using red oxide primer)

Can you upload a photo from the endoscope to your pc and then post it here. We'd have more chance of understanding what you are looking at.

The endoscope is stand-alone. I took a picture of the screen with an iphone. If it's enlarged you can see the brazing at the junction of the tubes. looking at the Brompton advice for fitting the seat tube sleeve, it is indeed the locator tab for same.
