What's with the fuel prices! And cheap whisky, apparently ...

Fuel is going to sky rocket - given Iran have said the water is closed, and Trump has said 'lovely, lovely, we make lots of money' or similar... I'd be worrying if I had previous jobs where the commute was 60 miles return, and I had business travel re-imbursed at below cost !.

I'll just have to set adaptive cruise when we go on trips and trundle to our location, which is no bad thing.

I've been trying to use the (115cc) scooter as much as I can, but it's not nice in this weather or with lots to carry. I try to do 65 in the car, as I've read that the faster you go above that, the smaller the returns are in trip time

Just checked 'petrol prices' website and even Morrisons are all now £1.53 for diesel, Esso now just 3p more, so 15p increase over two weeks.

I remember the fuel crisis we had some years ago (around 2000's) when I had a company car, a 2.5 V6 Vectra SRI. I had 60 plus mile return commute, so would 'draft' HGV's along the motorway to try and save a bit of fuel.

My van doesn't move during the week, and isn't 'scheduled' to be anywhere until next weekend, so will have sat two weeks.

Quite.

Without getting political, where we have countries trying their best to reduce fuel, emissions etc, you've got the likes of those in power else where opening new oil wells and believing global warming is a hoax. Very difficult to stay positive.

I would challenge the word "believing"

more "telling The People that" in many cases

To be fair to the oil barons, there was nothing mentioned about global warming when they read the profit projections.

And we're still some way off from the peak I saw 3.5 years ago: £1.60 for unleaded and £1.82 for diesel.

Yep, that was when I bought my first Diesel car and the next day we were going to the Lake District. I filled it up with premium Diesel to give everything a good clean on the long run. My eyes watered when it came to £100 odd. But, I got from Plymouth to Penrith and back on a full tank. A return train for the 4 of us would probably have been 8x the price

@biggs682 Did you see that a 40mph speed limit is planned for that garage/crossroads?

Very glad wefe redently fixed our energy tariff and Mrs D drives electric. I do so little mileage in the van the fuel cost could quadruple and it'd still be insignificant.

It cant be that expensive if folk are still driving their kids a quarter mile to school, driving Range Rovers, and belting around like Usain Bolt on acid.

Our road is a rat run as there are a couple of local schools. It's only a short road of 14 houses but it links a housing estate and one of the main local roads. Sitting at the dining table the patio door reflects traffic on the road which is usually quiet but in the afternoon there's the school run with a lot of large cars with one driver one passenger inching along. One of the schools is a highly regarded girls Grammar, on the rare occassion I've been wandering past at collect time it's a bit " Mad Max " with pavement parking and parking across driveways while mummy collects Jemima. The school is on a couple of major bus routes too plus there's a decent cycle lane ( and to be fair, there's quite a few who cycle )
