Apart from the obvious!

<self absorbed feeling sorry for myself mode on>
I never go to the doctors or seek medical help for much unless something has fallen off!

But this year I have been pedestrianized (I know its not a word, but I have) by a bad back.

Last week went to see the docs for such severe tendinitis in my right hand from my thumb down past my wrist I can hardly operate my hand. So the doctors prescribed diclofenac and co-codamol for the swelling/pain. (cue self abuse/RSI jokes)

Last night I came home feeling a little cold, had a 20 minute kip on the sofa woke up and went for a wee, next thing I remember is my wife standing over me and My head is killing me, then I decide to throw up for 10 minutes straight!

Mrs Wigs was stressing so went to the Doctors again this morning and have to go back for more blood tests and ECG next week, plus as wrist/thumb is no better I have to see physio for that and maybe get injections. My MRI date for back should be coming up soon too! ;)!

<End self absorbed feeling sorry for myself mode>

No idea Wigsie, but fingers crossed you get to the bottom of it soon and recovery is swift.

Ahhh Wigsie, I'm so sorry to hear how you're going through it at the moment. None of that sounds like any fun at all.

Regarding the muscle injections/steroids - try to see the physio first (or an osteopath would be my preference). I've had a shoulder injury for the past 6 months and had an injection for that, but as there was more than one muscle affected it only gave me temporary relief. The osteopath is really sorting everything out for me now and just knows so much about all the muscles (he would do as it's his specialist subject, but you know what I mean?) we're dealing with and what's the best course of treatment and how to prevent more injuries etc. It's not nearly as painful as I thought it would be either. They'll be able to give you some great advice on what to do about your back too (not to replace the MRI, but maybe some exercises etc to help you relieve the pain?).

That would also prevent you getting any side effects from the harsh chemicals in any pharmaceutical treatments too. I'm not against them, but I prefer a more natural course of treatment when possible.

I hope it all gets much better soon though and that you have a brilliant Christmas.

"Man hug".....that's all you are getting....;)

I think if 'down' then you can get ill - i.e. the third thing.......

Backs are very complicated bits of kit....., and the wrist issues can be your work that causes it - had a busy time with computer work ?

Thanks for the man hug Fossy. but next time please don't try and cop a feel!

Well my life is working at computers.... have recently moved jobs and gone from having a nice riser and ergo keyboard/mouse extensions and gel pads to just working from a laptop. Have since bought all the necesary bits (although a bit late).

The passing out in the loo thing is worrying mrs wigs but I am sure its fine, probably just ate a dodgy pasty!

Was just feeling sorry for myself and venting, there are people out there far worse off than me... I shall heal, get some more carbon in my life and 2010 will be the year of the wigs! ;):biggrin:

Spines are complicated things, right enough. Couldit be the tendonitis is flaring up because the stress of the spinal-groany-headachy-vomity stuff was running you down a bit? If your immune system's been reacting to the underlying stress of these other ailments, the inflammation might well improve as the other stuf gets sorted out.

Basically you're at a crossroads in your life and need to make a big decision. You want to carry on like a teenager but can't cope with your age induced pains. Considering you still blub at having your hair cut, this is no big surprise. But don't despair, this is all due to an underlying hormonal imbalance which you can address. This is done via a simple series of hormonal injections, though cost could be a consideration here. The cheapest option, ie requiring the least amount of little 'pricks', is to complete the conversion to a big girl. The lengthier, more expensive treatment, is to bring you back from the brink of womanhood into manhood. As you've strayed so far from it by now, that will mean a lot of 'nasty wasty' needles, or 'big pricks'. The 'manliness' treatment won't remove the pain you suffer but it will stop you whining about it and give us all some peace.

I hope that helps:evil:

The getting up, passing out thing, sounds a bit virusy, low blood pressury [can you tell I'm not a medic yet], type thing. Is that specific enough? Lots of it about this time of year. Viruses come from space you know; I've heard.

The wrist, definitely keyboard related. I've got the elbow that goes with your wrist, developed in just 6 months from a current bad setup at home which I'm a bit limited to change. That and lobbing tennis balls for the dog, repetitive tennis ball/keyboard injury.

The back is the back is the back. Wait for the scan and hopefully the New Year will bring some relief.

Ya big soft wuss

;);)

I think you need a hug:biggrin:

Is a biggie with the laptop keyboard though, we had a leaflet at work that related a horror story about this. Can't remember all the details but some guy spent a surprisingly short period of time, sub 6 months, working a lot on a laptop keyboard. The resulting damage was severe and some of it permanent. I know it was an extreme example but I remember being gobsmacked by the level of damage caused.

The Osteopath who used to torture me, said she was seeing younger and younger people with posture problems. All computer related, she said.

I would agree, bloody things will see the end of all humankind!

My osteopath has given up... last 3 or 4 sessions have been free as he is stumped! I will get better and get my own back on MacB down a quiet country lane one day. ;)

There will be thousands in that 'quiet country lane' Wigsie - all trying to do the same thing to MacB!

But he does have a point... (We'll make a mouseketeer of you yet - you wuss.)
Get well soon.
