Ok been done to death I`m sure but need a new rear track wheel for my Langster, if I was to self build what length of spokes would I need? Probably cheaper buying of the shelf or built to order I sure but nothing ventured nothing gained.
I think there were some threads in Know how about building wheels, there is a fair bit of expertise which you can call on to help you. You could try crossing the Forth and try on of the Edinburgh Bike CoOp Wheel Building Class...
Lenght of spoke depends on exactly which combination of hub & rim you choose. There are plenty of online calculators out there. The DT Swiss one has a good database.
Or go here, download the book, it is worth it IMHO. Everything you need to know about wheelbuilding, clearly pictured & explained.
You've got a good track wheel builder near you if you decide to not build it.
Rear track wheels have so much tension put through them you want it done well.
Good luck.
