I have replaced the old Mavic wheels on my bike with Easton.
It has a 10 speed Shimano 105 gear system.
I find that the gears can only be fitted and tightened(on the hub) when I leave out the alloy washer that was next to the wheel hub, with it in place the end locking ring will not engage with the end gear thread.
In a nut shell the new hub seems less long than the original.
IS the alloy ring only a spacer ? Your help please.
Doug.

It is only a spacer, and it can depend upon the wheel and hub as to whether it's needed.

Just double check your high and low stops now you have new wheels - they can vary a little between manufacturers. You may need to tweak your indexing.
