Hi again guys just a quick question about wheel skewers, i am looking to buy a rear wheel skewer road/race tires and i have a 9 speed cassette. I was wondering if there were any sizes that i should look out for or if they are all mostly the same size. Thankyou.

If you order a road set of skewers you will be ok as their adjustable threaded end caters for slight variations.

You're not getting Zipp Titaniums at £50 a pop are you?

would these be any good? (Halo Porkies Skewer Set)

They look ok - they are made for the larger drop outs and if your front forks have those little safety retaining ridges then they might not fit.

Road skewers are different length to MTB skewers.

MTB dropouts are 135 wide and most modern road dropouts are 130 wide

XT skewers will be too long, as are the Halo porkies

Ahh thankyou, just to confirm does it make a difference with how any cogs you have on your cassette or are they all a generic size as in 130?

Standard front dropout: 100mm
Track bike rear dropout: 120mm
6/7 road bike rear dropout: 126mm
8/9/10 road bike rear dropout: 130mm
MTB rear dropout: 135mm

Some skewers can fit both MTB and road as there is only 5mm difference.

amount of cogs? Not really. Most modern road bikes drop outs will be 130mm wide, and you could anything from 1 to 11 cogs in there.

Look for some shimano 105, ultegra, dura ace skewers

I thought that they could be cut down to size as they have a longer thread ?
