This is exactly the type of problem we have when trying to diagnose failures in parts and I pity distributors of goods. Customer says that, evidence says something else.I was going on information I had at that time. Talking to Mrs SG last night she conceded that she may have done so as she cannot remember 100% the exact date the wheels went on the bike, only within 10 days or so.
I ride in the complete opposite direction to her in another council area so can only go on what she tells me.
When I later looked again, very closely, at the inside of the rim tape there is small signs of white stuff that is either salt or oxidised metal. I don't plan tasting it to find out for sure.
Anyway, now that we know the truth the diagnosis is still "corrosive stress cracking." It is common with aluminium nipples.
