Wheels and rider weight

I'm nearly fifteen stone and the wheels on my Specialized Hardrock have never given me any trouble in seven years.

Ah, right ted. I didn't read the post properly, I thought he had a MTB. I've heard of the wheels on Halfords Carrera MTBs breaking before, I just assumed it was the same story.

The Edinburgh Bike CoOp had one 105/OpenPro M:Wheel but it was silver, and the price in-store was 90-odd quid (the price I'd seen was a web-only special). I was also after a Deuter Race EXP backpack as the little summer one I got from Lidl is coming apart already, but they had none of them either. No-one in the shop seemed particularly willing to provide help so I ended up wandering off down to Velo Ecosse, and came away with a set of Mavic Aksium wheels for £139 (EBC was going to sell me just the rear for almost £90),

Not quite my original purchase intention, but they're on the bike and they look the business. Looking forward to seeing how they handle on the ride to work tomorrow !

Never heard of these wheels Ap' (roval) strange you never hear of makes etc even though youve been cycling for a good while...there is stuff out there and it still surprises me on occ.
