I have a Carera Vanquish (2007/8 I believe) and the stock wheels are in need of replacing. The spokes are obviously really cheap as they have been rusty for a few years, but they are starting to snap from the rust now.

I can keep replacing them but to save the hassle and further costs I am going to incur I am after a recommendation on a new wheelset.

Obviously I would like to keep costs down, but at the same time I want a decent set of wheels. I generally go out for rides from 30-60 miles around the local B roads. Not too much climbing - around 1,800 - 3000ft during the rides.

So does anyone have any recommendations, seen any great deals on wheelsets? Looking to spend around £150 but if someone says that if I spend a little more than I can go twice as fast for half the power I will be willing to listen. haha

Seems the rs11 are recommended by most. Does the spacer kit that comes with it allow it to be compatible with my 9 speed cassette?

I think you do not needs the spacer as 9 speed cassette are slightly wider than 10 speed afaik, i use 8 speed on 501s with no spacer but i needed the supplied spacer to put 10 speed on the rs 11`s

Interesting. Seems I had it the wrong way round then.

I have had RS10's and RS11's the RS10's were fine till they broke a spoke at about 7,000 miles, then a week after repairing that I noticed cracks in the rear rim, planet-s replaced them with RS11's (and a new two year warranty) within two months or so a broke a rear spoke, but that was I think after I had hit a stone pretty hard, mind it was a few weeks after that it went, apart from that the wheels are pretty good for the price.
