Alternative title, "When will the sales start"?
I'm considering buying a Genesis Croix de Fer 10 but it's only the 2018 model currently available and I feel like if I buy it now, the price will drop and I'll miss out on a bargain. My local bike shop stocks the 2018 model for £1000 while a couple of internet stores have dropped the price to £800. I don't mind paying a bit more to get it locally and take advantage of their half-price lifetime service deal, and they'll do a good job assembling and checking the bike, but a £200 difference is big chunk of cash and the 2019 model can't be far away.

Have you asked your LBS what they can do price wise? You might be surprised

Usually the new models start appearing in October or November (not all brands refresh their ranges though)

I haven't asked them but if the new bikes are likely to come out in October I guess in couple of weeks they'll be looking to clear stock - that might be a good time to haggle.

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
The big boys are already discounting 2018 stock. I was looking at a Kona Wheelhouse on Chainreaction earlier today which is now listed with 25% off.
Not sure if the usual seasonal discount cycle applies to the Genesis brand?

As the OP, some retailers are already offering a discount on tne bike. One is Tredz but they probably haven't got stock!

I should try now but others will also be looking for a bargain. If you wait till October you'll miss out on the better weather to enjoy it, but its not so far off.

There's nothing in the 'press' about the CdF and nothing on the Genesis website, so it may well be longer

E.g. This from today

https://road.cc/content/tech-news/2...racen-2019-new-gravel-and-road-bikes-launched

Thanks for the link Vickster. Perhaps there's not going to be a 2019 Croix de Fer? I haven't even test-ridden one yet - perhaps I'll hate it, but everyone seems to like it's steel frame and relaxed ride.

Check the sizing for test ride, they look to come up big. Often with stock clearing deals, sizes can be limited, esp the common 54-56cm options

Hi Brand X,

According to the Genesis social media feeds they are making announcements about their 2019 bikes soon. However my apologies because I don't know if this includes a new Croix de Fer or not.

Earlier this year there was an announcement about a new Reynolds 853 frameset but I don't think that this is actually on their website yet.

Good luck finding what you want at a discounted sale price.
