when do 2014 models usually get discounted??

Hi All,
Looking in to getting my first bike soon but, given we are in the summer months, I wonder how long i'd have to wait until the 2014 models started getting reduced by the big companies (i.e. Evans etc)

is it worth holding on a few weeks or is it more like sept/oct prices start to fall?

Thanks,
Mark.

I think it's more like September. There are deals out there already there and an lbs will always consider a gentle haggle. ;). Evans did have a trade in deal going and discounts on quite a few bikes. What models are you considering?

It's generally seems to be the case that the later you leave it, the bigger the discounts . The risk is that the model that you want becomes sold-out. I have bought in mid December and late January but it's a bit risky to leave it that late.

Thanks all, that's pretty much made my mind up. I have been using my brothers old bike but eager to get my own so will just start the process...not going to wait till December time.

@vickster - budget is £1k-ish as going for C2W scheme.

From the forums here and having sat on one I'm going for a Genesis CdF but will head to EBC (been to Evans already) and check them out.

Cool. Some retailers won't take C2W on discounted bikes, Evans may do. You'll also need to check whether the shops take your company's specific C2W scheme

Is it the CDF at £850 or the croix de fer at £1100?

Go on, tilt your head!
Its just as well there are no LBS near me that stock Genesis bikes...otherwise I'd probably have 3 by now! Love the CdF, good choice!

I've had my best luck in September.
Picked a model out. Found an LBS that was local dealer to go & have a look. Decided on a price I would be willing to pay if it was on sale.
Went to have a look. They had one bike left, in my size. I cheekily asked if was going to be on sale in the future.
As luck would have it the owner was just writing the sale ticket when I walked in....at the price I wanted......Sold...!
