I have had a USB rechargeable Izone 600 arc front light for xmas.

It has a coloured indicator light to tell you the battery state. Only used it once for 30 minutes and its still on green.

With Li on batteries is it best to recharge every time you use it or more beneficial to allow the battery to run down before recharging ?

Seems a good light , quite powerfull on full ,low is good for urban use ,also has flash and strobe modes.

With a Lithium Ion battery you can recharge at any time as they don't have a memory like the old Nickel based batteries.

This is true, but I think the battery only lasts a given anount of charging "cycles". Therefore you effectively get a shorter lifespan if you never run it down properly, even if lifetime out of a single charge doesn't change too much.

I'd personally use the light until it runs out to see how many hours it does. Say that was 10 hours then I might aim to charge it after every 7 or 8 hours use. But that's just me, not a recommendation as such.

There's often no advantage to discharging fully a lithium ion battery, although some devices that measure the capacity of the battery may require a full discharge and charge cycle before it can make an assessment of the battery capacity.

If you wish to prolong the capacity of a lithium ion battery then avoid discharging the battery fully, recharge the battery as soon as it's convenient to do so. That said, I've got an old RSP HX400 light with a Lithium Polymer battery that's still going strong after a few years of regular use and still shines bright and simply refuses to die. I'd quite like to replace it but I won't do it until it fails.
