What an odd post.

I know at least one person with terminal cancer, and it's not a barrel of laughs. Why would we want to post about it?

And I've seen two dead people, neither of which was much fun.

If you're going to post about death, you could at least have the decency to proof read your post for typos too.

Don't worry Arch, he'll change his tune once someone he loves dies. Karma rules.

My thoughts exactly, Arch. A most bizarre post by the OP.

Bit of an odd original post, a bit tongue in cheek methinks, but, on the subject:

I think it is down to the person involved (before they die I mean). Not everyone is so prudish about it (some cultures celebrate death for example) and if someone one wanted to talk about it, then I wouldn't object.

Heck, I nearly died a couple of years ago, and I know there is nothing to be scared of. Genuinely, nothing mattered any more...... And then I was brought back via an emergency operation, and everything slowly came back into depressing, crappy focus again.

The problem is, we in the West are scared of the subject, so people would rather sweep it under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exist. But it does, and one day it will happen to all of us.

Live with it! (pardon the pun).

What an odd post.

Definitely what an odd post, has he been at the falling down water? Talking about illness is bad enough, I'm not sure I want to read about people dying, the rider down posts in commuting are bad enough.

The reaction always reminds me of how people like to see their dinner all neatly packed up in a piece of plastic packaging, but DON'T ever want to see or even think about where it came from.

People just don't want to look reality in the face.

Well, I think I've only got about fifty years left. Maybe more if I cut back on the chip butties.

I didn't particularly want to look my dead brother in the face, nor my dead best friend, nor a dead colleague at work, nor any of the other people I have been privileged to have know before they died.

Some people are just like that. Personally I don't really need, nor want, threads about imminent death so will avoid reading any that may be posted.

That's when people knew everyone in the place they lived.
I was shocked to hear a neighbour three doors down fell last week and was taken to hospital with a broken hip and wrist... it was only because I was at a funeral of the lady across the street on monday that I found out.
