I thought BMI was dead and it was waist to height ratio now or something? And I'm not saying that because I'm a BMI of 25 and on the cusp of being fatty fat Mcfat.

I come out as being most like someone from the Ukraine, really? So they're big on fish and chips, Tunnocks Tea cakes, Fruit & Nut and Stella Artois, who knew^_^

I'm most like someone from the Yemen apparently!

I consider that I'd like to lose half a stone or so, so I'm not sure how I come to have a lower BMI than 90% of other blokes in the country. I suppose that BMI is a bit of a blunt instrument.

I'm amazed at this. I've lost weight recently, but I still consider myself overweight (28 bmi, but down from 34 a few months ago). And yet I am apparently below average for my age-group in the UK. I suppose it must be because people get heavier as they get older, and I am going the other way.

Yes, BIN is of no clinical value. I'm going through one of my porkier periods, but my chest is still 18" bigger than my waist. BMI ignores so many values variables, including somatotype and exercise levels, that its pointless. Fortunately these days it's less used by the medical profession itself and more likelihood be used by doubtless well-meaning but nevertheless badly informed practitioners, such as schools, police recruitment schmoes, that sort of thing.

If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 56,314,010 tonnes to the total weight of the world's population

Which would make gravity a bit stronger and getting up hills a bit harder. It's a vicious circle

I am carrying an extra half a stone at the moment due to a combination of moving house, therefore less time spent cycling and taking up beer!
Apparently I am still lighter that 78% of UK women in my age group!
