Where can I buy a 44t 5 bolt 104mm outer?

I can find 4 bolt no problem, but a 5 bolt 104mm is seemingly rare as hens teeth now.

Any ideas?

Try Ebay, I have just bought a really nice quality Middleburn lookalike 5 bolt MTB pattern middle ring for small money. They are becoming rare. I plan to go Hollowtech Compact next year for my MTB, they are so stiff and efficient and easy to fit.

It was, of course, a trick question

There is no such thing as 5 bolt 104mm... 104mm is 4 bolt only... I'll have to learn to use a tape measure properly

I got one (a 110) from Chain Reaction... not a Middleburn, they didn't have one, an Azonic... but I returned it because it was too thick! Even on the shorter bb I had, the front mech wouldn't reach!

I've ended up getting a new front mech and chainset (from SJS) just to ensure compatibility; a little more of an expensive route but at least it works!

They might well be... but Chain Reaction don't stock the 5 bolt ATB (i.e. 110 bcd) in 44 tooth!
