I'm considering a new front light and I'm tempted by one of the external battery type ones, could I ask the lads and lasses here that use them how they route the cable and where they store the battery, thank you
I hope this isn't a really dumb question with a really obvious answer, actually, I think it may be easier if it is.

I put mine on the top tube at the saddle end, both magicshine and T6 batteries came in a little pouch with a strap that goes round the tube, neither move about or get in the way at all even over rough ground. The magicshine has an extra velcro strap on the cable to keep it tidy which i put around both cables, but would otherwise just corkscrew around the toptube to avoid any sag. Mine come on and off frequently, for charging and when I park up my bike to go into shops etc, its very quick to fit/remove

Don't carry the battery/light around by the cable though, much the same as you shouldnt carry an ipod/walkman by the headphones.

That's useful, thank you, I think I had a vision of a hulking great battery akin to an 80's mobile phone.

I have a pannier rack at the back. I attach the battery pack to that and then thread the cable around the top tube to the light.

It is the first time I have an external battery pack and it claims to be waterproof. It rained when I was out today and everything managed fine.

Just changed over to a battery pack type light. Pack attached to top tube as described above. Pretty quick to remove when I leave the bike outside at the gym. Not got wet yet, but batteries look to be well sealed together. May need to waterproof further.

Slung under the stem, extra cable looped nice and tidy around the bars between the stem and the light mount (which is slung on the underside of the handlebars).
