Err, no, you really have to watch that to see how horrifying it was. Basically a van overtaking very badly whacks his arm, and he's knocked out of control, swerving across the entire lane and nearly into oncoming traffic.

I'm not a particular fan of magnatom, but I do think you chaps are hating on him in an unkind and unpleasant way, and you're berating him for what is totally normal behaviour for cyclists.

I've seen loads of you people shouting at motorists for their mistakes, and I thought it was entirely normal and justified. Remember that video where someone pulled out in front of a cyclist on here, "causing my mate to exclaim" was the polite version.

I certainly don't hate him, I've previously acknowledged the efforts he makes off-bike for cycling, and I haven't expressed any view on here that I have done directly on his youtube channel.
I reckon we've all gone through the shouting at drivers phase but most of us learn fairly quickly how counter-productive it is.

Tester animal, LOL! Now there you guys would have a point, that is some rage in some of his videos. OTOH, this video would have me swearing and raging. Severely.

How on earth did he stay on after that!?

That tester animal guy is hard to beat for rage though, although I did once feel for him when he was on a very fast decent in the wet and a car came out from a side road on his left. He only just missed it and was screaming all the way towards and past it.

I hate to say this, but if you've ever met him you'll know that Magnatom isn't shouting in most of his videos when he taks to drivers. He just naturally talks loudly. At least that's my excuse for the thumping headache I had on Saturday morning, rather than the copious amount of alcohol consumed with him, HJ and CocteauTriplets the previous evening....

(Telemark was rather more abstemious than we gentlemen!)

Screaming and shouting at people is never going to make things better or change what just happened. A more calm and collected approach will get a better end result and make you come across as a better person.
.
I disagree with you there, Gaz. I've left drivers shaking with fear (punching the car sometimes helps). I'd call that a lesson they won't forget.

Mind you, you have to be confident it will stick. No sense in getting all ruffty tuffty if you get your butt flattened two miles down the road

When pretty much everyone I've seen does it at some point? Of course it's normal when your life's been risked. People forget what happens with a fight or flight reaction and adrenalin dump.

I was meaning, it's not normal behaviour to post what i see as a host of mediocre incidents on you tube (along with some more serious ones), or to berate drivers and other cyclists for, what i see as, some very minor errors (of course along with some more serious ones). There is nothing normal about Gordon Brittas on a bike.

I gather this latest departure was not the first and by its theatricality, I imagine its author is still lurking out there enjoying this thread.

I was berated for my comments on his last thread (probably quite rightly) but I still agree with both the positive and negative comments I made.

I was in a tiny minority who thought the loud and self-congratulatory VED lectures to other road users unhelpful.

Some of Magnatron's videos are illuminating, some quite scary and some reek slightly of both high regard for self and a lack of awareness of parody.

I find the Gordon Brittas comparison quite apt, but in a good way.

There is room for all sorts on this forum. I regret the departure of any member.

Now I just see you guys as having intentionally negatively interpreted Magnatom that way. Maybe it's because I'm from a different culture and have my own bias, maybe it's because of your own biases? To me he comes across just as a genuine and honest bloke who doesn't like being treated in the way that most of the motons in his videos treated him.

I did think less positively about him for some of his self-promotion and self-image when posting about stuff, but that has nothing to do with his videos.

That would be wrong though, going by the many hundreds of YouTube channels doing much the same thing. There are more and more every week now, saying much the same things to drivers. Seems like normal human behaviour to me, although of course I'm quite biased.

From a personal safety point of view, I could never suggest that it was a good idea to put fear into someone who is control of what could be a weapon.

Especially from the experience I've had, people waving maglite torches, bullying me with their vehicle into the kerb and drivers getting out and trying to punch me. I would much prefer to sit at home and think about how the driver got a letter from the rozzers.

IMO ranting on video is not the way to put a message across. He should edit out the bits when he looses his temper. Nothing against Magnatom, I really hope though our bikes never cross path, he's scary ... the word maniac  comes to mind

I'm still delighted with that G&R Wired left hook on another cyclist that I filmed. Apparently the dude knows dellzeqq and had a good old rant about it.

I have ridden with him on one of the CC Ecosse rides about 3 yrs ago. He comes across as a genuine bloke, engaging and pleasant. I know he received some criticism for some of his videos, but the man is not a monster, just a normal family man. The problem with videos is that you are getting the immediate emotional reaction. I know when someone passes close, I am wound up, often through fear and have shouted out.
