Where the sweaty hell do pound shops get their clobber from?
They don't shoe laces. Not in Glasgow, anyway. Think if anything would cost a quid, it would be shoe-laces. Couldn't even find a cobblers in Glasgow city centre. All stations have a cobbler but not those in Glasgow apparently. Couldn't find shoe laces anywhere in Glasgow that day.
That is why we only wear slip on shoes and boots ;)

The misses is back in the UK at the moment. She'll be bobbing into Poundland or somesuch to get some paracetamol and ibuprofen - £1 for 3 boxes as I recall. It's a small fortune for it here in France.

I occasionally go there, and have noticed many things are close to use by dates, including very cheap branded alkaline batteries, as the TV programme said many are in standard sized containers but with less contents than normal, and I realised in time that glasses wipes were both less in a box and more expensive than in Superdrug.

I did buy a pack pf 2 mini LED torches for keeping in cars - they were cheap at 50p including batteries, and a headtorch which is uncannily similar to ones in DIY shops at £2.99 each. At poundland they didn't have the 2 AA batteries though.

Do parrots get headaches then?

Spoke to the misses earlier (we're like that, phone each other up and talk), she paid 15p for a packet of 16. I forgot to ask from where as she was full of the dimmer switches she'd bought from Maplins.... you'd think France was a 3rd world country wouldn't you?

i know someone who asked the price of an item in the £1 shop. seriously.

a tumbleweed moment as everyone else looked at each other.
I used to work for poundland and this question came up more than you would think.
Some from people taking the p***, some genuinely asking the price because they're thick
