Do Paul's cycles sell frames? Big online MTB seller. Planet X maybe too?

Or try someone like specialized direct

Where are you getting the sizing from. have you tried one or are you interpolating from a 26" wheel bike. If the latter, you don't need the same size as the frame sits higher due to the larger wheel size, so in fact a 19.5" frame is going to be equivalent to 21/22 on a 26" frame bike.

So for instance, a rider of your height is recommended to have a 54cm frame on the Kinesis website for a 26" XC3 but only a 50cm frame for a 29" ff29.

A lot of time, so long as it's not to big, reach is the more important measurement.

I asked exactly the same question, as I'm the same height. Have you actually sat on any? The supposed size of the frame isn't very accurate. What one manufacturer may claim is 23" isn't any larger than anothers 19". Case in point, the Boardman Pro 29er 19" has a top tube length of 630mm, which is exactly the same as the Cube LTD Pro 29er 23"

I tried the Boardman Pro 29er 19" out a couple of months ago and am planning to buy it next week (C2W voucher takes ages). It seemed to fit fine. I'm planning to get a longer stem, but only when I'm riding on roads commuting, which I'd do any MTB.

Of course, body proportions come in to it. I have long legs but an average length torso and arms. If you've the other way around I suppose it could be more of a problem.

Modern MTB frames differ so much in geometry that sizing in inches almost becomes irrelevant. Seat tube size especially so, due to shaped top tubes. Sizing on 29ers is not something I know an awful lot about, but they are often recommended for larger riders. By the way, a 21 inch cube would actually fit you well, I rode an 18 at 6'0" give or take.

In your position I would give On One a call, or Cotic. Both make quality frames, but more importantly are very good at advising you about their products. On One's Lurcher is a lovely looking thing, very highly spoken of. The Cotic 29er, the Solaris, is a thing of great beauty, a quality steel frame if your pockets are deep enough. What's more from Halifax you can drop Into On One's Rotherham shop and browse and chat.

Just to throw things around a bit

Ive actually got a Orbea (26 er) in a 21" Frame that just feels far too small for me. I once rode a Cube 23" (Again 26") that was great. Generally I ride 60cm Roadbikes but can get away with 58cm.

I emailed On One and got a very curt reply telling me they only do upto 21" and sadly not offering any advice at all.

Ah, but did you email On One saying " I need a 23 inch frame what have you got?" Or did you ask
"I'm 6'4" what would you recommend? " two very different questions to a company like On One.

As I said, measurements are irrelevant, it's the actual fitted and riding size that matters. Open your mind and ask the second question. The first question may be leading to a pit of despair. Grasshopper.

Don't just take my word for it though, see below from On One's Lurcher page

Sizing Guide
Rider HeightSuggested Frame Size
5'2"- 5'6" (157 - 167cm)X-Small (50)
5'5" - 5'8" (165 - 173cm)Small (52)
5′8″ to 6'0″ (173 -183cm)Medium (54)
5′11″ to 6′2″ (180 - 188cm)Large (56)
6′1″ to 6′5″ (185cm- 196cm)X-Large (58)
Sizing Notes
All frame size recommendations are approximate. A good fit will also depend on the correct choice of stem length, correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style.

Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for a slightly shorter stem. If you think you are borderline between sizes, and you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for the smaller frame size. If you have shorter legs and a longer torso, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.

As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.

This was the replay

"Hello

The 29ers feel longer any way and a 21 inch in the 29er frame will fit you better.

Kind regards"

Not sure if it means a 29er will fit better in 21" than 23" or than a 21" 26er , it leaves a lot to be desired does that reply if I am honest.
