I should clarify - the accident her brother had was about 11 years ago, he did recover but, as often happens with head injuries, his personality changed. I can't say that from my experience as I've only known him for 9 years, but I'll believe it.
The discomfort preference isn't something she's said, that's what makes it ironic. She doesn't want me riding (though she's getting there) but can't think past that "danger" to what not riding might mean.
