Where would you go in October?

Looking for a weeks holiday in October. Favorite with me is Tenerife, good weather and lots of challenging rides but maybe a bit too hilly for OH. Open to all suggestions, just be nice to get away from work, kids, dogs, in-laws etc.

Tuscany, a Greek island, SW France etc.

Tuscany would be my choice.

All the Canaries give you good riding with reliable weather on generally good roads. Gran Canaria is the best for me - you can get up to Pico de las Nieves by several routes; and if you want challenging, the 200k+ ride round the circumference is still my all time best ride. The island has every terrain from lush banana fields to rocky desert and that NW coast road above the cliffs is just spectacular.

The Algarve? Nothing huge, but lots of quiet rolling terrain behind the coast, and allegedly the sunniest part of mainland Europe.

And there's always Mallorca, which has miles and miles of great scenery, especially along the Tramuntana. It will still be hot in October but I suppose you aren't guaranteed a dry week. Have you done Sa Colabra, or the ride up to Lluc from Pollensa?

Catalonia, short cheap flight to BCN and plenty of road bikes to hire.

Mallorca. Weather is still good in October. Plenty of flatish/rolling terrain for your OH then there's biggish mountains as well. Add to that its a shorter flight time that the Canaries.

I loved cycling round India such variety, great food and great people. Bit far for a week though.

I have been to both Cyprus (warm days but chilly at night) and Gran Canaria (hot during the day and quite warm in the early evening)in late October, GC would be my choice.

Have you done Sa Colabra, or the ride up to Lluc from Pollensa?

Not really ridden in many foreign places. I'll take a look at Gran Canaria. Thanks for the suggestions.

lanzarote warm but a little windy,nice riding,or majorca but can get serious down poors,be careful with flights as the budget airlines have a habit of cancelling flights and not telling you ,velencia main land spain a few pros in the area ,brothers just bought a villa in the area very good riding
