Just bought a Giant Defy 2 2012 as a 1st road bike. I would appreciate some advice on which tubes would best suit this (long presta valves)...Thanks

The ones that the bike came with!

Lol.

I just picked up a pair of Raleigh tubes that size for six quid the pair, from Evans in Leeds.

Tesco do tubes...

Does it matter?

Well, i know there is a difference in prices between, say Kendo's range (that include latex), and the specialised/ raleighs/ giants/ and even decathlon's own range (which i am more inclined on getting)...

Vitoria Ultralights. The best butyl tube you can IMHO. Planet X are selling them pretty cheap at the moment, if not Parkers is pretty good. Valve lengths depends on the wheel but 40 ish mm works for most non deep section wheels.

Is it worth paying double (in most cases) for 'ultra lights' than for normal butyl's, or even more for latex (which are supposed to be the lightest and toughest)? Or am i just being too picky and therefore should stick to normal butyl's?...

I buy the cheapest possible at the time of purchase and over the years have bought many brands. None seem to be better then the other. I do more miles then most and have found that they are all much the muchness.

Same as Ian. Tubes are all pretty much the same IMO, unless you are racing and want the lightest inners you can find then just buy the cheapest.

They all go down anyway and if you get a puncture they all tear so there's no point in spending a fortune.

It may just be in my head then, but I think a lighter, quality tube has an impact on the ride characteristics and acceleration. Nice light tubes in a nice light tyre go faster and make a great whooshy noise ^_^
