It may just be in my head then, but I think a lighter, quality tube has an impact on the ride characteristics and acceleration. Nice light tubes in a nice light tyre go faster and make a great whooshy noise ^_^

I just ordered 3 tubes from Cyclesurgery, 5% off with quidco and free delivery. Couldn't see much in the way of a deal to beat that  I am hoing not to need them, nor the tyre levers I ordered at the same time

I find the valves on the Michelin tubes work better. Also no thread on the valve stem so you dont have to worry about a lock nut, and the rubber grommet in your push-on pump adaptor doesn't get ruined. Valve caps are not strictly necessary - they don't prevent air loss - the valve should do that. Their main function is to protect the folded tube from damage by the valve.

I bought 2 btwin long valve tubes from my local decathlon yesterday@£2.99 each. Needed a quick fix as i then went on a steady 24 miler thereafter.

By the way, i currently have a decent pump that i also bought from decathlon last year. It worked well on my hybrid, but i somehow dont think it will work as good on my 700 x 23's. What would you recommend as i will need to pump upto 120psi?...

I get the Btwin 700 18-25 presta long valve inner tubes at Decathlon at £2.99. In fact I'd a £3 reward voucher to use so I rode over there today to get one.

Cheapest on offer. My last pair were a mystery brand bought off eBay, turned out to be "SunRace" when they arrived. They hold air just like the Specialized/Conti/Michelin etc etc do.
