Reluctant Stereotypes, at UEA (Norwich) 1980. Compared to some of the other bands mentioned here it makes me think that UEA wasn't a big hitter in the freshers' circuit that year.

I went for a 2 week holiday in Tenerife when I was supposed to be starting Uni so have no idea who played Freshers week. But I got very very drunk in Tenerife.

My first ever gig was The Stranglers. Never having reached the dizzy heights of Uni, this was during my first trip to sea in the Merchant navy, and was in Osaka, Japan. October (ish) 1978. Beat that, student peeps!
