Warm beer over cold any day!

Except when it's HOT, which is why Aussies drink cold, tasteless beer.
You do know why the Aussies serve the beer so cold?
So you can tell it apart from the urine...

Well starting with first principles there is no bad beer!
However having established that, the thing to remember is that when you are preparing to return from Oz you will probably be having an equivalent drinking event. So it would seem to make sense to save the ice cold amber nectar for then and drink the quality stuff now. Timothy Taylor's Landlord possibly. Enjoy your trip.

VB isn't that bad, there is much worse over there, BTW Lizban, where are you going?

London City to Frankfurt for work - Then to Singapore to see the in laws, Singapore to Auckland for 3 days more work then Auckland to Sydney for a few days then drive to Brisbane and Nossa for a wedding, a few days on Frasier Island then work my way back following a similar route.

Best bit is work is paying for the flights so I get to go in the comfortable bit of the plane.

PS went for tanglefoot in the end

That simply isn't true I'm afraid. Fortunately, it's relatively easy to find good beer and great beer is cheap and comparable with all but the finest wine.

Sorry but you are wrong. In my distant youth I drank Younger's Tartan bitter, since then I have worked my way through Newcastle Brown Ale, lager & lime and pretty much every mass produced fizzy lager going. I moved onto stouts and then real ales. I now enjoy some of the excellent real ales which are readily available and the occassional interesting belgium beer. I have friends who with similar life experience prefer bottled Bud. There is no bad beer just differing tastes, with the possible exception of badly kept beer, which to be fair is not the beer's fault.

Think we'll just have agree to disagree on that one Wolfy; I think there is such a thing as beer which is objectively bad. Largely thinking here of the overcarbonated, pasteurized, filtered, unbittered corn and rice confections that seem to dominate these days. There is a reason it needs to be served so cold (or even with a slice of fruit in the neck).
