I have a Giant and looked at the Avail range and they are great bikes. I currently ride a Defy 2 (Alu) and its a fantastic bike. Geat bikes for the money, I don't know much about Scott bikes so can't comment on them.

Oh, if you go for the Giant, change the tyres asap, they are made from cheese.

So are you saying Scott will get you further and quicker? As far as spec is concerned are they similar or is one superior to the other?

Why is that? @jefmcg has done an astonishing number of miles on her 2012 avail 2 and apart from a new cassette, chain, brake pads, it's going as strong as ever...the rear mudguard has taken a beating though
