which bike to choose

Hello everyone.looking to get my first road bike.I'm looking something with relaxed geometry. I tried a cube peloton pro yesterday and it felt good .I've been online on paulscycles website.for 2013 bikes.the choice is between cube agree gtc composite with tiagra group set,,cube peloton race ALU with 105 group set,giant defy composite 3 mostly tiagra or cannondale caad8 105 triple .which is £739 ,the rest are£799.is it better to get a carbon frame and sacrifice a group set level.also some guys mention going up a size when buying cube.I'm 5ft 11 with 32 inch leg so my lbs recommended a 58 frame.another thing is the cube agree the same relaxed geometry as the peloton but in composite??

in your shoes id get the defy comp 3 in m/l size.

Check sizing 58cm sounds too big for your size in most brands, although cube do come up smaller. Cannodale bigger though. Depending on how you find it, a medium giant may fit better than an m/l

The CAAD is the more race geometry, synapse relaxed, so you may. Need to rethink

Given the range of bikes, you need to get out there and test ride if you can, especially on the sizing. Buying online is risky if you don't know for sure what size you need, could be very costly and end up with injuries. You may save a few quid

What do you expect carbon to give you over a top alu frame?

good question. ive never ridden carbon so couldnt comment. why dont you tell us what the difference is with carbon ride?

i bet the defy comp is a nicer ride than the caad 8 though. how does one pronounce caad anyway?

I think the difference comes from the weight. It is fairly comfortable on rough roads, certainly more so than alu/carbon fork but no more so than steel/carbon fork. There is however much more choice of carbon bikes and can probably now be got cheaper than a good new steel bike. If I were to have only one road bike, it would be the genesis as it's just so much more versatile

My question was to the OP actually on response to his question as to whether carbon better. Not ridden caad either but it is meant to be as good an alu frame as there is
