Anything that sort of price range will be good and the deals you can get on this years bikes are good as next years models are coming out.
I can only recommend the bike i ride which is a boardman comp for £800, the best part about it is the apex groupset which gives you a large range of gears from full out speed to a gear that will get you up a cliff.
