Which Brake levers

Hi

I'm after a new pair of brake levers. I want to replace the old black plastic one with a chrome/silver pair for purely cosmetic reasons really.

My bike is an old Raleigh commuter/hybrid type thing and has those basic calliper brakes. Does it make any difference what type of levers I buy, or should i be looking or a particular type?

Yes - brakes require differing amounts of cable pull, so you have to get levers that match your brakes.

(This is most extreme with "V" brakes - a non v-brake lever will not stop you if used with this type of brake).

Can you post a pic, or give more detail on the brake? I've a feeling they'll be cantilevers, given your description of the bike, but it'd be good to know for sure.

My brakes are similar to this on the wiki page here, a single pivot side pull calliper type.
