Which Carlton model have I bought?

Hello everybody.... Bought this bike before some days in order to renovate it.. Really nice frame.. I have read many things in some sites but still I m not sure for the model.. By the serial number it seems to be a 1978 model.. Any help for the model.. genuine parts.. and every other information by the veterans would be great..!! Thanx..!!

Don' know the model but it's very very nice.
Someone will be along with the info of that I am sure.
All looks original though which is a real bonus.

Looks to be a early-mid 70s Cobra, albeit with later 1977 type block letter decals

Just to add I see a Rudge badge, so may well have been sold abroad. A real Carlton/Raleigh mix here.

Yes.. @Spokesmann... It was bought in Cyprus..The previous owner placed the decals a few years ago.. . The first digit of its serial number is 8, so I guess it's from 1978..But what about Rudge..? Was it a brand name Carlton used to sell abroad..?

I'm not sure if the Cobra was exported, all chrome at that time from a volume bike manufacturer was typically English. I think someone just found a Rudge head badge and stuck it on.

What's the frame number?

Thanks for the info, every day is a school day as they say . I worked in a Raleigh 5 Star dealer in the 70's and exports were never really mentioned.

Number is Nottingham January 1978, UK Cobras would normally have a "W" number..
