Never had one snap (touches wood) but always go for KMC.
A good wipe and check once a week is usually enough to spot anything before it gets to that stage, also if there are signs of dodgy shifting or mystery clicks then have a good look at it before setting off on any long journeys

KMC or SRAM here. only ever snapped one as a kid, but that was a 3 (or possibly 5) geared road bike and I was standing on the pedals going up hill having never once looked at the chain or even oiled it - never worked out how that bike survived really!
