Which commuting tyres do you use?

I've just had a look on chainreaction, there are some nice looking michelins on there, rave reviews on t'internet, plus they have high-viz sidewalls, which seems an eminently sensible idea. Apparently they're heavy, but also bomb-proof ... I don't care about "heavy" because they're going to be used on my town bike. I'm an absolute weight weenie when it comes to the road bike though!

Conti 4 seasons for 23mm - bit expensive.

Cheaper option is Michelin Lithion 2's - very good.

I use the same tyres all year round unless it is snowing then I put knobblies on the winter hack.
700 x 32 Marathons for the Galaxy

I used Bontrager Racelite hardcases for a couple of years, although i only got a few punctures using them , i found they cut up real bad and needed replacing quite often. Also very slippy in the wet.
I'm now trying Marathon+ this year as they seem to get good reviews.

28 mm Armadillos mostly, although also 25s and 23s for some years. I practically never puncture (less than half a puncture per year!, a year being 6000 miles-ish). Having said that I don't weigh much and I tend to replace tyres quite early, rear ones esp. as they tend to pick up more cuts. I'm interested in trying Mickle's suggestion on another thread of using Stan's no-tubes fluid for the commute bike.

being still a total novice regarding cycling & money being tight i've probably not got the best! LOL

i've got a diamondback eastwood which after about 9 months commuting still has the original kenda keen on the front (still in good condition) but the rear has a cheapo £5 wilkinson tyre (after i piece of metal ripped a 2inch hole in the kenda!) though after less than 3 months this is nearly bald!

i've just ordered a couple of michelin world tour tyres from chain reaction for only £6.99 each. have a made a good choice? i dont know! LOL reviews say they are great for the price & hard wearing.
i guess they'll be ok for me as i only do 5miles a day all along cyclepaths (though they are a bit rough & "gravelly")

Very few punctures over the lifetime of the tyre. 32 miles a day in all weathers in South East London potholed/crap strewn street.

I haz an idea, innit ... you can buy kevlar tape for a few squids per roll on t'internet ... I am going to buy a roll of that to line my tyres with - the plan is that when the p***ture fairy pays me a visit, the offending object will pierce the tyre, but then meet the tape which will be pushed away from the inside of the tyre, thereby yielding to the object, but without the inner tube being shredded.

Make sure there are no sharp edges on the kevlar if you do this, or you'll cause more problems than you solve. There are tube liners you can buy for tyres that do the same sort of thing.

I've got some big heavy Michelin's (City) on my hybrid which seemed to even survive the hedge cutting season without a puncture (unlike the Marathons on my Tourer). I don't ride that bike too often now but I would say they're puncture free after about 2000 miles, and at £9.99 each when I got them they aren't going to break the bank. They are a bit heavy though.

I use 700x25 marathon +'s I think there fantastic I wouldnt use anything else for my comutte, Bomb proof, great in the wet, reflective side Walls. Im always riding over broken bottles through sub ways from the weekend drunks. There a bit of a bugger to put on the first time.
