I think the red white and blue is much nicer. Although I've gone with the black and red because of sizing. I really like the way the bar tape changes colour halfway down, but it's a shame if it's poor quality.
Got to agree, the white/red/blue for me too, but it's all just personal taste.

The bar tape is not a deal breaker or any real issue I think.

Let it get a bit mucky/worn, as white bar tape does, then swap it out for some quality Arundel Gecko Grip or some Lizard Skins in Red or Black.

Feel the Quality.

Bar tape finally gave way. Exposed Cables now on the right side.

You can actually see the Cables anyway through the tape it's so poor quality.

My old Trek White tape was still going strong after 4 years all year round riding, The cube lasted a mere 8 weeks of summer riding.

I have a 2014 Cube Agree GTC SL and the bar tape has become a mess after 4weeks and 300miles. The bike is in for its first free service on Monday so I am going to demand the LBS change the tape as it is not fit for purpose.

I know its only tape and I will have to change it myself at some point but 4weeks is taking the p!ss.

Downward have you complained to your LBS?

It's a shame you didn't for a Cube a few years ago, I've got a 2012 Agree GTC Race full ultegra, cost me £1800. IMO the latest Agree range is quite under specced compared to a couple of years ago. Great bikes all the same still, if you go Cube you've made a wise decision.

No I haven't took it back for it's service, it's a bit of a pain as I work a long way from it and they are "too busy" on a Saturday.

The guy I use for repairs will supply and fit for £8.99 so I might just do that when the winter bike comes out. I have had the bike since April now so they will probably say its reasonable wear and tear. Anyway I don't want the same crap again, It's obviously poor quality.

I have the 2014 peloton race in red/black

Have done close on 3k miles, so have had same issue with bar tape.also I upgraded the tyres , but the standard ones where good. Comfort wise it's a good bike, I'd not feel confident on carbon in case I dinged it as its harder to work out damage

I know that this thread started 21st June & has been resurrected, anyway this bar tape issue shouldn't affect me as I always planned on changing the bars, stem & seatpost immediately anyway to my 3T parts & my preferred Arrundel Gecko Grip.

Bike should be here in 2 weeks-ish.

Afternoon all.

Anyone know if this bike is able to be upgraded to take Disc brakes ?

Assume Calipers will fit but it's just the Mavic wheels - Is it a case of changing the hubs ?

Comfort is frame geometry and the tyres are a major factor , wether its carbon , steel ,alloy or titanium material has very little influence, there was a great link up here from a old time steel frame builder and he explained it very well , get the peloton race ( alloy frame and carbon fork) and fit 25s if u want a good comfortable bike
