Generally I think a 56 would be about right. I'm an even 6' and have owned a couple of 56cm bikes in the past. However, I've just bought a 58cm Cube last week, but Cube are reckoned to be a size smaller than their sizing would indicate. Did 25 miles on the new bike yesterday & it feels perfect.

So, I got this message

Thank you for your order

I decided to go for a 58cm frame, as I found a bicycle frame guide, that reckoned my height and leg length would be a 58cm frame, I found another that also agreed with 58cm

I measured it turns out I am just over 6ft but not quite 6ft 1, with a 34" inside leg, now, just try to contain the excitement, and convince the mrs that early self bought christmas gifts don't need wrapping up

Thanks for the help everybody, I think I have settled on the Felt F95, it seems to be from what people say pretty well specc'd for the price, I have also kindly being given a referral code for Wiggle which gives me some freebies with it. I will be ordering it on payday Thursday, and I will be sure to let people know how I get on with it when it arrives.

No idea, I set the seat height so that my knee has a slight bend at the bottom of the pedal, but that is it.

It came assembled, I just needed to fit pedals and the handlebars. Is there anything you suggest I check?

Setting the seat height correctly = put the pedals on sit on the seat, and rest your heel on the pedal. This will get you very close. You may need to adjust is a smindge from this, but it will be millimeters.
Seat position = You want your 'sit bones' to be resting on the padded bit of the seat. adjust the seat on its rails so they feel a bit of this padding underneath them when you reach to the bars...again a few milimeters forward or back
You may need to swap the stem out on the front end of the bike to bring the bars to you or away when your hands are resting on the hoods.

It is all about comfort when you are pedalling when in the saddle.

The "sit bones", by this I mean you refer to the bit between the end of your crack and the start of your balls?

As a quick 10 min ride to the shop to test it is where there seems to be a pressure point.

Get a spirit level out and check that the seat is flat.

The sit bones are the bits of your pelvis on either side of that.
the pressure should be felt on them and not your perinium (the bit between balls and ring)

Try sliding the seat forward on its rails and try again to relieve this.

Sit bones will bruise, but will toughen up in time. You shouldn't feel pressure anywhere else. That may not be helped if the stem is too long for your reach to the hoods

I will check it now, I think I'm sitting forwards too much on the seat, the reach to the bars don't feel excessive, but I have a habit of sitting forward on motorbikes too. Sitting up with straight arms is fine, but when I lean and start pedalling it presses.

The seat is perfectly level, so I will try to pull it forwards a bit, then try to tip the front down a little.
