Which flat bar bike to buy?

Hi there, I currently cycle a scott speedster FB and am in the market for a new bike. I mainly use it for commuting about 18 miles a day. The only things I definitely want are for it to be as light as possible and for it to have flat handle bars. I would like a little more suspension than the scott currently offers but that is not essential. My budget is from £1000 - £1500. Any suggestions very gratefully recieved.

Do you commute on the road? Suspension will just slow you down and tire you out.

Whyte Stirling, no suspension, but light, quick and disc brakes - and a British company

Trek, Ridgeback, BMC all do bikes that will fit the bill, although none really have any suspension. This from Orbea looks like the dogs bo**ocks though.

Ridgeback do a titanium flat bar, but I think you're looking at two and a half grand.

Going by the specs and reviews (not ridden either) I'd look at Specialized Sirrus Pro for road speed, Cannondale Quick SL1 if it gets a bit bumpy...
