Hi all.

I want a helmet that is retro looking, not a birds nest type and would appreciate views from those those wear a helmet like the Bern Watts, Giro Surface etc.

I am sure there will be questions about why I dont want the birds best type, its purely aesthetic and I wont do any MTB'ing or hard road riding, just fun and recreational rides on my beach cruiser or on my mini velo

Thanks in advance

Urge 'enduro-matic' helmets look interesting, as does the Fox Flux and.... Erm, the newer version, I can't remember the name of at the moment.

EDIT: The Fox Striker

I actually very briefly looked at Troxel equestrian Helmets, but those would certainly be overkill with a capital O!! (Although they do look nice).

Yes I was looking at some expensive ones from a Casco that makes equestrian, ebike and track helmets but I think they are a bit OTT for me, I would just look like an idiot wearing one of those :-)

Helmet choice is so subjective, so we can only give suggestions, I mean, I am still looking for the 'perfect' helmet too!

I imagine that most of the knowledgable people will be along in the morning.

If there is one type of helmet worse than the standard 'Mushroom' type, then its the ones that just look like a dome, I.e. the BMX/skater types without a brim.

Maybe that's just me though.

You see, my problem is that I am naturally quite thin, and that includes my face, so practically every helmet I have ever owned either looks huge or just downright strange on me. I just am not fat enough to pull it off!

Please tell me if you find a helmet that avoids this!

In the days before mushroomy polystyrene vented and finned type helmets I vaguely remember seeing a few riders wearing what looked like a bunch of bananas on their heads but which where clearly some sort of semi-rigid leather skull-cap thing.

Now...this is my kind of retro! I wonder if anyone still makes 'em?...or did I dream the whole thing??:hyper:
