Which ISP?

Which is the best ISP to change over to for value? I'm with Bulldog, which was part of Cable and Wireless, but is now part of Pipex. I'm thinking of going to BT, but last time I tried, it proved horrendous because BT said I needed a Migration Authorisation Code from Pipex, and Pipex said I needed a Return To Sender form from BT. In the end I gave up. I think it was because I let Bulldog (now Pipex) take over my phone line.

I have been thinking about a change and from what I have seen Zen Internet is the best choice, hard to find anyone with a bad word about it, which is a lot more than you can say for BT or most of the others....

My mum's with BT, I don't think their internet service is so hot. (I don't think the connection speed is as advertised).

Have you considered Virgin? I use their service, over a BT phone line.

(Whenever Zen Internet are mentioned, people do seem to say nice things.)

I'm surprised you think virgin offnet is so good. Fair enough if you like it.

I'd say Be.

Zen is excellent, but after 5 years of Zen I switched to Be for connection speed and price.

Be has also been excellent but I did have half a day down a few months back which was annoying. Still, get what you pay for I guess.

Go for some thing that suit your needs ? look at there packages on offer, no point paying for some thing you will never use fully.

i've not had any problems with virgin. macuser voted them best isp apparently. i've got a very whizzy 20mb connection which is great.

Yeah but offnet is another matter. It all depends on whether you're in the 55% cabled area or not.

Snap to virgin/ntlworld. Minor call-centre-related problems in the past, but overall they deliver what they promise, and they're fairly cheap, particularly if you go for a package (phone/cable tele/broadband).

they're doing an offer at the minute for all channels (inc sky sports and movies), 20mb broadband, a v+ box, a secondary box and unlimited free calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers for £88. we have just taken that up, having had a bill for £108 for fewer services due to daughter phoning her friends a hundred times a night.

I've had Zen for a couple of years, would also recommend it. They'll give you a static IP too, or even a /29 if that kind of thing matters to you. A&A are also well recommended by techy people, but I've no personal experience

That said I don't think either are exactly rock bottom prices

Wow! A /29! I've DREAMED about having a /29 all my life. I'm switching to Zen, once I can see straight.
