after looking at loads of different bikes and components i have come to the conclusion that there are only a few factors that will determine my choice. I now know that most of them are made in the same factory and then sent to the distributors to put on whichever wheels forks etc that will determine the final price. They are all more all less the same depending on how much you can afford. As i already know that i want a hardtail the only real choice sees to be between steel frame or aluminium.
Everyone will have heard of the Rockhopper Pro,
http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=53224&scid=1000&scname=Mountain,
my first choice,
but i also seen a Genisis Lattitude,
http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/mountain/latitude/latitude-10/specs.
I have never heard of these before, They are British, and have Reynolds tubing, which i have heard of.

The decision is between the two. british steel or chinese aluminium. Any feedback will be usefull, as i purchase in 2 weeks

Only choice is between Steel and aluminium?
There is so many differences between bikes it's unbelievable.
Angles of the forks and seat tube make for totally different bikes for instance.
Which parts of the frame flex, either because of cost restraints or design, make bikes feel totally different.

However of the two you mention, most would go for a lighter Aluminium one most likely.
Genesis make some great bikes and have a good reputation. I think one of the current MTB mags in a £1000 hardtail test had a Genesis as the winner or certainly one of the better ones, a Core 40 I seem to remember @£1,100.
