Sounds like beaker to me too.
He was my favourite character, and the one I'd select. He was always suffering at the hands of Dr Bunson Honeydew's experiments and I thought his yelps to be those of someone knowing they were about to undergo unspeakable discomfort and/or pain. I particularly remember him being strangled by a gorilla whilst the good doctor continued on his demonstration blissfully unaware of the havoc going on behind him.

From the above, it sounds likes Beaker's involvement was upped in later series. That puts me off a little. I like the suffering underdog staying understated!
