Or any other part of southern Spain.
Never holidayed in that area and thinking of a break in September (just done Alvor in Portugal and loved it).

Criteria........
Somewhere not too loud/busy. Not full of Irish bars selling all day breakfasts
Places we can 'stroll' to for a meal or drink.
Places of interest within striking distance.
Close to nice beaches.

Mrs Dave will not do Turkey. She is certain there is a terrorist on the beach just waiting to shoot her.
Dont ask.....its beyond me.

Such a shame, we have just come back and have already booked another one out there, does she know Spain has problems as well. In fact do not go to the UK that is very dangerous.

Neighbours of ours go twice a year and love it. But its in her head and not worth the agro of trying to pursuade her.

Malaga itself, miles of beaches (can cycle them), loads of historic/cultural things to do and see and what tourists you'll see will stay downtown (on Calle Larios) and soon heading back to the cruise ships. You can walk to Pedragalejo & El Palo along the front for cheap local food and be very unlikely to meet a tourist and though like every Spanish city, it has Irish bars, you'll only find young Spaniards in them.

There is nothing much further south, Barcelona is tourist hell and lower, Valencia is very nice indeed but maybe a 2 mile trek to the beach from downtown.
