I am thinking about buying THIS, a Campag Veloce groupset for my current n+2 project. The questions I have are.............
1. Which cassette to choose. I've never bought a gruppo before so have just had whatever has come fitted to the bikes I bought. Why would they, (and Ribble too), be charging an extra £15 for an 11-25 cassette?
2. The choices of ratios are; 11-25 (+£15), 12-23, 12-25, 13-26 and 13-29. I cycle around Lancashire and Manchester for the most part, and it can include some fairly big climbs, especially over the Lancashire Moors. My CAAD10 is still stock in the drivetrain department, so should I just mirror the cassette ratio of that and get on with it?
3. I'd like any real world experiences of the Veloce groupset. I have never used Campag before. My C/dale is full DA with an FSA SL-K crank, and my other bike is a fixed gear!
I know Veloce is probably equivalent to 105 from a price point, and I have no intention of fitting a top end gruppo to what will become my winter hack, but any first had experiences would be very welcome.
4. Crank length. My C'dale has 175mm cranks, but the Peugeot frame I'm going to be using is slightly lower to the ground than the C'dale, (only by about 1.5cm). Should I simply adjust the crank length to allow for this difference, or just stick with 175mm?
5. Finally, has anyone bought from 'Cyclingbargains'? I haven't, so I would be keen to hear of others experiences of them, both good, and not so good of course?
Sorry about all the questions, buy I can't afford to cock anything up with this build as I've had my wings clipped by SWMBO as regards budget!
