Hi folks,

I’m going from a flat bar hybrid to a drop bar road bike. I’m in the middle of medium/large frame size for most bikes. I’m 175cm tall but have a long reach (arm span 190cm). I like to be more upright than racing as commuting. The question is, should I go up to the large frame or down to the medium?

I’m worried that if I go medium the saddle will need raising more than on the large and therefore be higher than the handlebars to get the saddle to pedal height right.

I hope this makes sense.

Many thanks

54 long stem or 56 shorter stem. Or a M or M/L Giant. As said, go try them both.

Try both, I am between sizes on road bikes. I chose the smaller size and flipped the stem upright to get the riding position I wanted. For me the next size had too much reach and I preferred being on a smaller framed bike. The big thing to watch for is if a bike is too big there is nothing you can do to make it fit. If it is a bit too small its much easier to adjust.
