Co-incidence that you went through the exact same upgrade path I did.

I have Windows on both my netbooks now but I still "use" the EEE more because I listen to internet radio a lot. Mainly radio 4 'cos you can't get it any other way here in Switzerland.

If you are using it for internet radio (especially the BBC) this link could be handy...

I much prefer the look of the Acer. I also got fed up with the narrow width of the Asus screen, and having to scroll across. Most of the other criticisms of the Acer I agree with - battery life is not great, and the overall package weight is higher. Next time I will get something with much better battery life

You've got me all confused now. Aaagh! I'll have to do a bit more research before I make up my mind.

have you thought about using a PDA or XDA ? they have everthing you need in a smaller package with camera and phone and 3G wap wi fi , Windows office outloook the lot . How much actual typing would you envisage doing? if its the occasional email and web browsing it could be a more appropriate option

I'd be wanting it for typing up a journal as well as web browsing so really need something with a keyboard.

The Samsung NC10 won a netbook comparison in a computer magazine I read a few months ago, (so it's probably not the best now). I think personally I'd be tempted by a Netbook with Ubuntu and solid state memory if I was just going to use it for the interweb while travelling.

In the last issue of PC Pro the Samsung N110 knocked the NC10 off the top spot (which it had held for a year), the N110 has even longer battery life, about 9 hours...

Also, both have really good keyboards which is rare in netbooks....
