Hi,
the otherhalf has decided that she wants a smartphone as her current LG's battery is dying quickly (seems to be a common fault and new batteries go quick too). She doesn't want the very latest, but a 'capable basic' one... I have no idea what to look for or price. Can anyone here shed some light please.

We are currently on payg, but would consider contract.

many thanks

From experince, the battery life on smartphones (Android & iphone) is genereally poor. Not sure about Windows Phone 7 or blackberry though.

I have to recharge my smartphone daily. Its a pain but worth it for me as so many of my customers email me and I do need the map feature from time to time. OH plays Angry Birds a lot but the battery lasts all day.
I have a HTC Desire and its pretty good. One of my friends has a Blackberry and says the that battery life is a touch better but not much.

I have a HTC Desire and love it. If you want something cheaper as said above the wildfire is a good one as well. I don't have all that much knowledge of the other smart phones but the Nokia my Mum had for a few days before she sent it back was pony.

500gb should be fine for normal usage. On O2 they supposedly send you a text when you are near your limit (I have never had one as never got near using it all)
