Just a silly thing but what do you guys use? I don`t have much luck on this front and have never really found one that does the job particularly well with my cycling stuff. Or maybe I`m not getting the washing part right:dry:

I`d like to solve this mystery so any answers are much appreciated:thumbsup:

Aldi Almat Non Bio liquid sachets - at 30' synthetics cycle (including merino kit). Non bio liquid for handwashing delicate items.

Non bio liquid from Tesco on a 30 or 40 degree wash. Never use fabric softener if lycra is involved.

Is your kit not coming clean or is it still pongy? If the latter you may want to look at merino as opposed to nylon

I suggest that you use a liquid rather than a powder as it rinses more easily IMO. Since soap residue is likely to cause problems in sensitive areas you may want to set the washing m/c for an extra rinse too.

Asda non bio tablets with no fabric softener as apparently it damages the padding on a 30 or 40 delicate wash!

I always find that liquid makes my machine smell mouldy so I stopped using it, as soon as I changed back to powder it stopped:scratch:

Wash your cycling kit with liquid and the rest of the laundry with powder? And leave the washing machine door open after it's finished to air and dry out

It washes ok, and smells clean when it comes out of the machine, but that clean smell doesn`t last. I`ve done 100 mile rides with other people before and I can still smell that "just washed" smell coming from their kit if I am following them. I`ve never had any merino wool stuff, any good?

I could try that, I always do leave the machine open to dry after I`ve used it, I`ve got ocd about that!!

You can wear merino for several outings without washing, it just doesn't get pongy. The better technical fabrics should be better than the cheaper stuff

Anything you like, but (as others have said) don't use fabric conditioner - it wrecks the wicking / breathing properties of technical fabrics.

My waterproof stuff and anything containing wool or merino gets washed at 30 degrees with Persil Silk and Wool. It smells like a boudoir but that's OK.

Everything else gets washed in whatever.
