I believe in branded bio powder for the worst washes (my gear
) and I reckon its agressive action and bleach content will be the best at removing any persistant bacteria that can cause the nasty niff. I have to admit, whiffy fleeces and cycle tops have been an intermittent problem this year right through winter, it has NEVER been a problem before. I have 2 theories on why this has happened. 1 is my wifes insistance on using liquid non-bio. 2 is the addition of 2 cheapy fleeces and a Polaris long sleeve top to my cycling wardrobe last year. The polaris top in particular has been terrible and frequently just goes straight back in the wash.
It's a coincidence that this topic has surfaced just now as even today I walked into the spare room where we had put up the clothes airer and it stank like a wet dog that had just been in the canal. I tracked the smell down to a fleece of my wife's. Everything else that had been washed in the same load was fine. The puzzling thing is she doesn't do any arduous activities so how come this fleece has suddenly got the whiff?
